Leathercraft has been a hobby of mine for over a decade. I designed and made wallets and bags for family and friends. In 2018 I designed something truly unique:
After dozens of variations I was happy with the look and fit and began to sell on Etsy and in person.
I made a youtube video showing the process of making the hat, which didn’t lead to sales like I had hoped. Instead fellow leathercrafters were commenting, asking for the pattern.
I ignored them all, and continued to make leather goods for myself and my wife..
Fast forward to 2023.. I buy an Adobe subscription and learn to make patterns in Illustrator.
I instantly started making sales once I posted my hat pattern, and I made a few more youtube videos to go along with it.
I designed another hat pattern, which I would say is my finest work yet.
Leathercraft will hopefully be a lifetime practice, and i’m very satisfied to be sharing my patterns with fellow crafters, and the passive income is welcomed, too.
